In GetReel and The Fleet Spot this week, you'll want to catch Donlen's Dan Powers' take on the fall used vehicle market. Also in GetReel is Runzheimer's Kraig Rodenbeck talking about fair reimbursement for employees driving personal vehicles for company use, and Bob Johnson of NTEA chats about the importance of fleet education.

Ray LaHood, Transportation Secretary, is hosting a two-day summit next week with industry and safety leaders to discuss the issue of the hour: Distracted driving. Here's LaHood from a Detroit News article: "If it were up to me, I would ban drivers from texting...But we've learned from our efforts to get people to wear seat belts and to persuade them not to drive drunk that laws aren't always enough. Often, you need to combine education with enforcement to get results." Judging from the innovative programs that are crossing our desk, the fleet industry will be in the forefront of driver education.

Charge That, Please!

We've been paying a lot of attention to electric vehicles and the systems that will support them. Dexter talks to us about charging stations. Universities, for example, are getting inquiries from their students about the availability of charging stations that can be accessed by something as simple as an I.D. card. - [Read More]
